Hi everyone!

As the title says, I got offered a new contract because my employer got bought by another company. I'm not sure if I should accept their offer. Should I ask for a higher salary or extra benefits such as insurance? Or do you think the offer is fair?
I'd rather not say what my exact job is because it'd be easy to figure out which company I work for. It's a job that doesn't need a degree, but needs some technical knowlegde and handiness, nothing very special. I took it as a temporary job because I couldn't find one in my region, in the field of my bachelors degree. Yet here I am, still with them 2 years later.
I was the only employee in my function with a contract for BE-LUX area and will be the second in the new company.

I have a 4/5 contract because I have a small business on the side which I am trying to build up (currently without income).

Details below!

Pros and cons of the new contract:

+ Company car I can use privately
+ 1,7 euro extra per day in meal vouchers (woohoo)

- Bigger company, less personal approach and flexibility
- Less comfortable car
- Impossible to save up overtime to take f.e. a couple of days
- The drive home is NOT compensated, regardless from where I have to drive home. This will make me lose a couple of hours every week (before it was driving time minus 30 minutes). They are looking for a solution for this.
- The new contract has a varying schedule, which means they can put me on 10 hour days one week, and compensate it with shorter workdays when it suits them. With my current employer I choose when I take my overtime.
- I will have to take on more, pure logistic work (deliveries and such) which I don't find very challenging

Current contract:

  • Seniority: 1,5 years (before as interim, same company)
  • Official hours/week : 32 - 8 hours per day
    • 50-90% of my day is driving (BE-LUX area), depending on the project. They take off 30 minutes of the drive to the first adress and 30 minutes of the time to drive home. So long drives from and to work are compensated
  • PC200
  • Average real hours/week incl. overtime: differs a lot 28 - 48
  • Shiftwork or 9 to 5 (flexible?): Flexible, I choose when I start, just have to get the work done
  • Vacation days/year: 16 days (+ flexible to save and take up overtime)

  • Gross salary/month: 1900

  • Average net salary/month (incl. net fees): ~1700

  • 13th month (full? partial?): full

  • Meal vouchers: €5,2/day

  • Ecocheques: 250eur/year - put in collective insurance, no choice

  • Salary car/bike and/or fuel card: Well equipped, comfortable van with fuel card for work and home-work transportation. Flexible on use for groceries etc., but NOT for private use (not insured when off work, can't use their fuel for private errands, etc.) Does not count as benefit on salary.

  • Group insurance (% employer): for the amount of ecocheques (250 euro)

  • Other insurances: no

  • Other benefits (bonuses, stocks options, ... ): no

New proposal:

  • Seniority: Taken over (1,5 yrs)
  • Official hours/week : 30,4 varying schedule on contract
    • 50-90% of my day is driving (BE-LUX area), depending on the project. They take off 30 minutes of the drive to the first adress. Way home NOT compensated
  • PC200
  • Average real hours/week incl. overtime: differs a lot 28 - 48
    • Overtime: they choose when I work and when I don't
  • Shiftwork or 9 to 5 (flexible?): Differs, schedule made by employer
  • Vacation days/year: 16 days

  • Gross salary/month: 1900

  • Average net salary/month (incl. net fees): ~1700 (unless company car takes off a chunk?)

  • 13th month (full? partial?): full

  • Meal vouchers: €7/day

  • Ecocheques: 250 eur/year

  • Salary car/bike and/or fuel card: Basic minivan + fuel card, also for personal use

  • Group insurance (% employer): no

  • Other insurances: no

  • Other benefits (bonuses, stocks options, ... ): no

Thank you to everyone taking the time to read this mess and giving me their opinion and/or advice!
