1. PERSONALIA

Age: 34

Education: Bachelor in Applied Informatics: Application Development

Work experience : 9 years

Civil status: Married

Dependent people/children: None

2. EMPLOYER PROFILE

Sector/Industry: HR

Amount of employees: 12 I think

Multinational? No

3. CONTRACT & CONDITIONS

Current job title: Team Lead Software Development (.NET)

Seniority: 1 year

Official hours/week : 38 hours/week

Average real hours/week incl. overtime: 30-60 depending the projects, I try to balance out overtime by working less in weeks after a busy period.

Shiftwork or 9 to 5 (flexible?): 9 to 5 but flexible, if I can't be available during office hours but will do my work at another moment, that's fine as long as I let people know

On-call duty: No, but we have tasks that need to be completed between 23 and midnight several times a week

Vacation days/year: 20 days

4. SALARY

Gross salary/month: 3800

Average net salary/month (incl. net fees): 2500 including netto compensation

Netto compensation: 150

13th month (full? partial?): Is this Eindejaarspremie? Because I do have that 😜

Meal vouchers: 8 EURO

Ecocheques: yes

Salary car/bike and/or fuel card: yes, Opel Corsa-e, I'm supposed to have my electricity somehow compensated, but they never figured out how so it still didn't happen

Group insurance (% employer): No

Other insurances: Nope.

Other benefits (bonuses, stocks options, ... ): Nope

5. MOBILITY

City/region of work: Hasselt, Limburg

Distance home-work (km's/time): less than 1km I think, couple of minutes? I live so close this is ridiculous to compute, I basically live two streets over

How do you commute? *Car (it would take a while on foot, I should really get a decent bike, but to be honest I'm just always late because living so close to work made me lazy in the morning)

How is the travel home-work compensated: the car and non-existing electricity compensation

Telework days/week: In theory we only have to be in the office one day every week. Me and my team choose to be there most often. (It's so close for me, I just let the rest decide what they want to do, I personally only really care that we have certain meetings face to face, the rest is up to them.

6. OTHER

How easy can you plan a day off: Easily: I'm very busy so you'd think not that easy, but as I carry the responsibility for my team, I can usually take a day off very easily as long as I know it won't screw with our planning. I do have to make sure not to take time off at the same time as another team member, though.

Is your job stressful? Yeah. Quite.

Education possibilities: Not really. All education possibilities are things I set up, so they're mostly things I at least know enough about to be able to explain as much as possible and know how to get answers to the rest. That way I can at least offer some knowledge sharing to my team.

Responsible for personnel (reports): yes

I'm thinking of changing jobs, but I don't want to go too far (like Brussels or Antwerp), so I don't know if it's worth it. I would like a job with more education possibilities and more growth potential for me, but I also really like working close to home, it has so many benefits. Also, I would love if the people management aspect that is now included in my team lead function, would still be part of my job in the future, but I know that the real people management tasks are usually not part of a developer's tasks, even if they are the team lead. If someone has some career advice, don't hesitate to tell me. Even if I decide to stay there for a good while longer, it might be useful in the future. 😊
